Information for Prospective Students

This page outlines the registration process and what happens after you take the class. For information on the class itself and the Exact Listening exercise, see What Is Exact Listening? and Locating the Trainer and Class Nearest You.

Tuition and Registration

Trainers set their own tuition for the class. In addition to this tuition, there is a one-time Materials Fee which covers the cost of the manual and its accompanying CD. Before the class, you will fill out a Registration Form that is submitted to the Exact Listening Trainers Association by the Trainer with the Materials Fee.

Ordering a Manual and CD

While taking the class is preferrable, the exercise can be learned from the manual and the accompanying CD alone. If you live far from the nearest available training, or you just wish to read the manual before the class, you can purchase the materials in advance.  With your materials, you will receive a letter that you will give to your Trainer when you ultimately take the class. This letter will emempt you from paying the Materials Fee when you register.  To order the manual and CD, click here.

After the Class

When you complete the class, the Association sends you a "Graduation Letter" confirming that you have taken the course. Show this letter to any Certified Trainer, and (space permitting) you can repeat the class as often as you like, anywhere it is taught in the world, free of charge. Trainers welcome graduates, since new students learn the exercise more quickly when they work with people who have experience.

Certification

To become certified as an Exact Listening Trainer, all you have to do is demonstrate proficiency in the exercise as both guide and student to any current member of the Exact Listening Trainers Association. This is best done by practicing with fellow graduates after the class, then repeating the class with your original or another Trainer. When a Trainer feels your skill level is sufficient to effectively teach the class to new students, he/she will recommend you for certification.

When your application is accepted by the Board of Directors, you become a member of the Exact Listening Trainers Association. (See Trainers Section.)
